The stand-alone database application on CD-ROM is a wonderful tool for handing to customers or including in your mailings. But it can also be useful to provide the data for a wider audience. In the case of Smith and Watson, a furniture manufacturer, Makeko developed a database-backed digital catalog which was produced on CD-ROM as well as included in their web site.

The database application provided on CD-ROM operates independantly of additional software on either the Macintosh or Windows operating system. Smith and Watson's clients can execute a search using keywords or they can browse catagories of furniture. The search results are presented in list form, and include a small thumnail image of the products. These individual products can be selected enlarged into tearsheets that can then be printed by the client.
